Moths to a Flame

Inspired by moths, over 59,000 people contributed to this artwork which explores our relationship with energy, and asks us to heal rather than harm our earth.

The Art and Energy Collective presented Moths to a Flame at COP26 in Glasgow in November 2021.

Everyone was invited to join this international project which turned your calls for urgent action on the Climate Emergency into a magnificent mass-participation art installation.

The installation was displayed at Glasgow’s Botanic Gardens and featured 20,000 milk bottle moths, plus recorded audio messages of hope presented in handcrafted clay vessels.

We were delighted to be awarded The Sustainability First People’s Choice Art Prize for 2021.

Our Moths to a Flame final publication is available as an e-book or to purchase as a keepsake in our online shop.

Our Moths to a Flame final publication

Art and Energy with the help and support of our project partner Plymouth Energy Community have recently breathed new life into the milk bottle moths made for our Moths to a Flame project.

We have transformed thousands of the moths into triangular sheets to incorporate them in our new Moths to a Flame geodesic dome.
