Sandford Wellbeing Fayre
Our Moths To a Flame geodesic dome caused quite a stir at the first wellbeing fayre on Sandford Millennium Green in Devon. It looked resplendent in the sunlight, everyone's milk bottle moths from the original project taking on a new life.
Our stand invited people to make their own moth out of Oak Gall ink, and as they did so we talked about energy systems and our relationship with nature. We also talked about the benefit of taking small positive actions and being creative to help with eco-anxiety and start to make a difference. Eco-anxiety fills a shadow from news of the impact of climate change. We are learning how best to alleviate it through creative action.
We were at the fayre next door to our friends Significant Seams, who use textile art and crafts for wellbeing. They were sharing their knowledge on the history and heritage of wool in the area, spinning yarns with local families.
There were walks and talks from many local practitioners, music from local bands filled the valley. The uplifting gentle day placed emphasis on the skills that exist locally to support resilience in the face of climate emergency.
