On Friday 10th February 2023, Art and Energy will be hosting an online gathering to discuss potential uses for wool from Dartmoor, and ways to try and reduce wasted fleeces, it will also offer participants the chance to share their ideas.

This online event was initiated by the Plymouth Energy Community Warm and Well project volunteers (PEC PALS) who became interested when visiting Harford Moor and then making felt from their fleeces. They talked of draught excluders, insulation, jumpers, slippers, blankets, crafts, composting.

Those present at this meeting are artists, researchers, farmers, more commercial representatives as well as PEC PALs and PEC staff.

This event is aimed at our existing PEC Pals and anyone local to the Plymouth area who is interested in signing up to become at PEC Pal in the near future.

Art and Energy have been encouraging the creative approach to keeping warm and well with PEC and hope that we will all enjoy learning about the different processes and creative approaches sharing what we do.

The Plymouth Energy Community would love to be creative with fleece and wool and at the end of this gathering we hope that there will be a ‘making project’ initiated.

After this session on 24th February, the PEC PALS will have the opportunity to get making and designing. Their ideas will be displayed in the centre of Plymouth later in March.
