Fun in the sun at St Levan park

Art and Energy’s Jenny and Cat headed to St Levan park in Plymouth last weekend for a day of fun in the sun thanks to funding support from the Green Minds project.

We set up our hands-on mossy exploring station, crafting gazebo and workstation and The Mossy Carpet and set about chatting to all the lovely passers-by! We were also able to hand out free copies of our children’s book, The Moths Whisper which went down very well with the young visitors to the summer fun day.

Our moss station allowed visitors to touch (and smell!) various species of moss including sphagnum from Dartmoor, we had magnifying glasses and an digital microscope for more detailed exploration.

We were also encouraging visitors to #bemoremoss and think of tiny positive actions they can take to help make a brighter greener future. Our crafting gazebo allowed visitors of all ages to come in and sit down for a rest and to spend a little creative time making mossy pompoms and textile tufts for The Mossy Carpet. Jenny and Cat really enjoyed sewing these on to the backing felt of The Mossy Carpet and see our artwork grow in size.

Thank you to everyone who stopped to chat to us and all the fabulous mossy pompom makers! We had some inspiring words left on the feedback tree - fun, happy, inspired, excited, hopeful!

We were really pleased to catch up with our friends at Clean Our Patch CIC, Food Plymouth and the team at the Building Resilience in Communities (BRIC) project.
